The New Mentality Can Provide Youth Speakers for Your Next Meeting!
We are the first speakers' bureau in Canada devoted to engaging youth to speak about mental health services & mental health difficulties. Our speakers regularly present to conferences and other events.
Youth speakers can be extremely effective in reaching people with a mental health message. Our speakers put a face to youth mental health and are able to speak knowledgably about mental health difficulties and the services they received. Research shows the most effective way to lessen stigma is contact with a peer who is suffering from a mental illness. Research also shows that by listening to clients of services in a meaningful way, those services can be improved. Our speakers have been affected by mental disorders and speak to empower professionals & policy makers to take action to support children and youth facing similar problems.
All of our speakers have received training from top mental health advocates and professionals in the field. Our speakers come from a variety of backgrounds and are all under the age of 24.
Each speaker has his or her story, which is shared. However, each presentation is customized to suit the audience. For example, if the youth were speaking at a Ontario Provincial Police convention, their message would inspire insight about policing practice as it relates to youth with mental health difficulties. Though mental health is a serious topic, the presentations use appropriate humour and are extremely accessible, interactive, cool, and inspiring.
