Our Mission

The New Mentality is dedicated to empowering youth to become leaders in the mental health community. As a program of Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO), we strive to amplify the voices of young people and foster meaningful change within the mental health system. Our network spans across Ontario, bringing together youth and allies who are committed to improving mental health services and eliminating stigma.

Get Involved

Getting involved in The New Mentality can be a life-changing experience. Our network is comprised of youth-led TNM Groups from across Ontario who work in their communities to raise awareness of mental illness, eliminate stigma, and improve mental health services. Disable the Label is our annual summer leadership retreat for youth mental health advocates.

Youth-Led Policy

Through our provincial Youth Action Committee, we support youth to develop youth-led policy recommendations for service providers and government. Explore our latest policy work.

What We Believe

Meaningful Relationships

Our relationships with each other are at the center. We celebrate the individuality of each network member.

Radical Inclusion

We believe that all voices must be included. Our work is stronger because of the people and diversity included in our decision-making processes.

Partnerships

Our youth are valued partners. Adult allies work with youth to create opportunities for young people to contribute and be involved.

Meaning-making

Finding meaning in hardship is an important part of healing. We make these experiences transformative.
